Summer is around the corner and that generally means suffering through re-runs on TV. Well suffer no more. Queen of the South is back for season 2 on USA, Thursday, June 8th 10/9c.

If you remember, I shared this fab new series with you after I got a chance to meet the cast and see the pilot at a conference last year. I’ve been watching ever since, and I have to say, this action packed show does not disappoint.
Season 2 promises more of the same, except this year Teresa, the main character, will be all about finding her power and potential toward becoming the Queenpin, or Queen B, as I call it in my life. That’s when ambition, vulnerability, and compromise merge to help you grow into the person you were meant to be. I can’t wait to see Teresa’s transformation, but until then, I thought I’d share a little insight on how I’m starting to be the Queen B of my life.
Queen B 101
It all starts with letting go and getting unstuck. I know, I know, easier said than done, but here are three things I learned from Oprah and Deepak’s 21-Day Meditation Experience, Getting Unstuck: Creating a Limitless Life, to get you started.
Stop comparing yourself to yesterday.
Unless you have magical powers, there’s nothing you can do to change the past or change your present to match your past. Instead, choose to be present to every moment, every experience, and every opportunity that allows you to be the Queen B of your life as it is now.
Don’t refer to your old self as if it’s real.
The past, man it has a hold on us doesn’t it? But we are not who we were – good, bad, or indifferent. So instead of reliving things in our head and allowing them to feel real by attaching feelings and emotions to them, we need to let go of them. We need to let go of our past illusions and grasp to the only reality we have, which is who we are and what is happening in the here and now.
Don’t automatically act on old thoughts and reactions.
Remember, we’re trying to let go of the old and embrace the new. That all starts by shifting our thoughts and shifting how we react to the people and things in our life. So Deepak encourages us to start noticing any patterned behaviors/reactions and the next time they want to come to the surface, he asks that we “…pause and say to yourself – I’m not that person anymore.” He says allowing that awareness in, along with a pause and a deep breath, allows us to get unstuck and see other possibilities. Yes I know, it’s a lot to work on and requires a lot of awareness, but it’s totally worth it because you end up being the Queen B of your life.
That’s exactly what Teresa is trying to do this season on Queen of the South. So why not unwind from your day by tuning into her journey on USA on Thursday, June 8th at 10/9c and every Thursday this season.
Missed season one? Don’t worry. You can catch up and get your binge on for FREE here. I know I did and now I’m even more excited for the premier, June 8th at 10/9c. See you there!
