I don’t know about you, but summer always means outdoor BBQ’s, good times with friends and family, and s’mores. And I’ll tell you right now, nothing beats this berrylicious s’more. So why not wow your family this summer with this easy to make dessert.
Yes, a s’more is a wonderful, decadent treat on it’s own, but why not incorporate the flavors of the season? As I headed to the store to prep for our first backyard BBQ, I stumbled across fresh berries, every kind you could think of. Since last year I shared my Strawberry S’more recipe, I thought I would see what I could do with raspberries and blueberries this year. Plus, the flavors scream verano (summer), while the colors scream Red, White and Blue fun don’t ya think?
Building a Berrylicious S’more
- 1 pint of raspberries
- 1 pint of blueberries
- 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 box of graham crackers
- 1 bag of large marshmallows
- Hershey’s chocolate bars
As part of your BBQ food prep or as you work on getting the fire going, rinse off the raspberries and blueberries and place them in a bowl. Add in a tbsp of lemon zest, the juice of one lemon, and a tbsp of sugar. (Feel free to leave out the sugar if you prefer to have a more tart topper.) Mix and allow this to sit in your fridge for 15-30 minutes.
Once you’re ready to begin the s’more fiesta, take your berry mix, the graham crackers, marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate with you so you can create the yummy, gooey treats for everyone, right on the spot.
With this uber cute Weber® Smokey Joe® Grill and extension fork, you can even have the kids get in on the fun (supervised of course). Don’t have these on hand? No worries. Read on to find out how to win one for yourself at the end of the post. UPDATE CONTEST OVER
Creating s’mores is already a lot of fun, but I am always looking to step it up a notch and wow guests into thinking super easy desserts are harder to make. The trick is all in the presentation. For my berrylicious s’more I just happened to have these old style ice cream sundae glasses, which is what inspired me to layer in the ingredients, parfait style. (If you don’t have a sundae glass, any glass should work and/or you can just layer the ingredients in the s’more itself.)
All you have to do is take a regular s’more, break it in half, and place it in the glass.
Top it with a roasted marshmallow, this is where it starts getting a little sticky & messy so have some wipes on hand, and add in a tbsp of the berry mix.
Then top with another roasted marshmallow and some Hershey’s squares.
Easy breezy, but don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
Yes, it’s a little messy, but talk about decadent, yummy, gooeyness. OMG, so good no matter which way you enjoy your s’mores!
