It’s holiday time! That perfect time of the year to gather with family and friends, share some great eats, and get in on some holiday fun.  And if your friends and family are anything like mine, we’re always looking for ways to include our pets.  So instead of hosting a typical holiday party, we opt for a DIY Paw Print Ornament party, topped with Purina treats and eats from Target.  And now, thanks to a great high value in-store text coupon offer starting the week of December 4, 2016, you can get $10 off any $40 purchase of Purina products at Target.

All you have to do is text PETS10 to 827438* to gain access to this exclusive offer.  No more carrying coupons into the store.  Heck, you can even get it while you’re at the store.  And who can say no to convenience and savings like this? Not only do you get to stock up on great Purina treats and eats for your pet and your pet guests, but with the savings, I’m sure you can find yourself a little something, something for being such a thoughtful hostess.  I mean, it is Target after all. They have everything you need, as well as everything you didn’t know you needed.

This trip that included double of everything you see in my cart.  First, some Beneful® Healthy Weight for my doggies, which like the rest of us, tend to pick up a little weight during the holidays.

Beneful® Baked Delights® Stars™ with bacon & cheese, because it’s nice to have a a holiday themed snack for the ornament party.

Then some Beneful® Dog Treats Healthy Smile Dental Twists and Beyond ® Purees – with extra nutrients – to keep the doggies happy and healthy.

If you’re dogs have other Purina favorites, don’t worry.  They all qualify for this Purina text coupon offer at Target. So head on over to your neighborhood Target and shop away!

Once you’ve stocked up on items for your four-legged friends, it’s time to head to the grocery section to stock up on items for your friends and family.  It’s also a great time to turn your attention to the supplies needed for the DIY Paw Print Ornament.  While most of the supplies needed are pantry stables, with all the holiday cooking and baking, I’d hate for you to run out.  So make sure you have enough of each of the following items, which yield 3-4 ornaments out of the following measurements.

CHECK OUT:  It's Tamalada Season

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
1/4-1/2 cup water
round cookie cutter or glass container
parchment paper/wax paper & plastic wrap

Before your guests arrive, mix the salt and flour in a bowl.

Then add in the water, little by little, until you’re able to knead the dough into a firm ball.

Make as many batches as needed, wrap them in plastic wrap, and store them in your fridge until you’re ready to use. Then once you and your guests are ready to begin the DIY project, preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.  Remove the dough from the fridge and plastic wrap, lay it out on parchment paper/wax paper (add a little flour as needed), and use a rolling pin to roll it out to 1/4 to 1/2″ thick.

With a cookie cutter or glass, cut out a large enough circle to fit your pet’s paw (feel free to dust with flour as needed).

Gently press your dog’s paw into the center of the cut-out dough.

Poke a hole at the top center of the dough using a drinking straw.

Bake ornaments for 2-3 hours (or until completely dry) at 200 degrees F, on a lightly floured greased cookie sheet to help prevent the dough from spreading and thinning out during baking.

Allow the ornaments to cool completely and decorate as desired.  I used white spray paint and a black marker on mine.

Then thread the ribbon through the hole, and voila! Your decorative paw print ornament is ready to be admired.**

Now your guests will not only walk away with happy bellies thanks to Purina’s text coupon offer at Target, but they will also walk away with a lot of fond memories, and an adorable keepsake for them to treasure for many years to come.

CHECK OUT:  Doggy Playdates Dos and Don'ts

So what are you waiting for?  Get your guest list together and head to Target to get all your dog’s favorite Purina products, along with everything else on your shopping list!

Happy Shopping & Happy Holidays!

  1. These are super cute! What a great idea. Our doggies are no longer with us but this would have been so nice to see again every Christmas! Maybe I’ll be brace (or crazy) and try to make one for the cat!!!

    • Awe Nadine, I lost a doggy last year and wish I would have done this for her. That’s why I’m happy I was able to do it for my 2 remaining pups and offer something similar to my friends and family. Good luck with your kitty. 😀

  2. These paw print ornaments seem really popular this year- I just might give making them a try. I’ll definitely be spoiling my pets with this Purina offer though! #client
