Yes, you read that correctly. My future Mother-in-Law, or Suegra as I’ll probably call her, will be coming to town this weekend. Although I’m trying my hardest to not worry about her visit, the tables changed when my BF (boyfriend) suggested she come to the house for Sunday dinner. Eek, now I have to impress her with my cooking skills and present a clean home (I don’t want her to think her precious boy has been forced to live in squalor).
Don’t get me wrong; I tend to keep a pretty neat home, however with recent rains and these babies roaming our hallways, my home is not necessarily spotless. Thankfully, Swiffer sent me some of their products for review after Hispanicize 2013, which they boast can pass the Abuelita test (Grandmother test). So I decided this would be the perfect weekend to test them out to see if they would pass the Suegra test as well.
We knew we already had a jammed packed weekend, so we developed a plan of attack prior to the start of all the craziness. We decided to assemble the Swiffer SweeperVac and the Swiffer WetJet. Thank goodness we did. We found out that the Swiffer SweeperVac had to be charged over night and the Swiffer WetJet needed double AA batteries. Once we got all that taken care of a day early, my BF and I decided to break up the chores. He started to dust using the myriad of Swiffer Duster products we got. He even managed to get into different nook and crannies that we normally skim over, thanks to the 360° Dusters. I soon followed along with the Swiffer SweeperVac to help lift all the loose mud, hair and other oddities that one finds on floors and he followed behind with the Swiffer WetJet. Vualá, we were back to having a clean home again. 😀
Thanks to our quick Swiffer house cleaning session, we should now be able to enjoy the other events of our jammed packed weekend and I should have enough time to focus on the next task at hand, what the heck am I going to make for dinner? After a quick poll for a list of her favs, we decided that Mexican Mole would be the best option. Thankfully it’s one of the dishes he likes most from my cooking repertoire, so it should turn out well (fingers crossed). 😉
What worries you when the Mother-in-Law comes to town? What makes you deep clean your home?
Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post but I was provided with the Swiffer products mentioned above for review. However, all views and opinions expressed are strictly my own.
