As you know I’m not yet a Mom (working on it though 😉 ), but I am a darn great Tía (Aunt) and Godmother to 9 kids under 8yrs old.  While I’m not with them 24/7, I have baby sat them for over night stays, weekend getaways and every year for a two week summer vacation – generally 5 at at time.  Yes, 5 kids (4 boys & 1 girl) – 2 who were born a day apart, 2 that were born a month apart and one that is a year younger than the middle kids.  Talk about a hand full; and now I have a fresh crop that includes 4 under one and summer is just around the corner. 😀

No match for this Tía though.  I have many years of experience under my belt.  My sister and I are 9 years apart and I’m proud to say I helped my working parents raise her.  She was the first one I had to help transition to say adiós (goodbye) to diapers and it’s never been quite the same process for any child since.  Thankfully, my ladies who lunch crew agreed!

In our lively discussion, we all agreed that potty training is an exciting milestone, but often a long journey that takes commitment, not only from you as the parent, but from any caregivers (from fab Tías like me, to grandparents, baby sitters, day care staff, etc.). It’s all about listening to cues from your child showing that they’re ready for the transition, vs. listening to your pushy friends and family who scoff when they find out your X yr old child isn’t potty trained.  We’ve all heard it, but we don’t have to let it influence us and our child.

Thankfully Pull-Ups® Training Pants are proven to deliver more potty training success than diapers because they have stretchy sides that allow the child to learn the skill of pulling them down and up, while giving them the right amount of protection for training.  The reliability of Pull-Ups® also offers the parent and/or caregivers a solution for consistent potty training for every situation; whether on a shopping trip with Mom, riding in the car with Grandma, or running around the playground at the day care.

Regardless of the method, give yourself and your child a break when it comes to saying adiós to diapers.  It will happen when it happens. 😀

    • Thanks Michelle, but I’m pretty lucky to have them too…kids have a knack for teaching patience & unconditional love, which I’m all the better for. And this luncheon fostered such a wonderfully supportive atmosphere, which I was happy to share with you! Thanks
