Remembering Loved Ones

Every year we try to host a family reunion to not only gather together and celebrate life, but to spend time remembering loved ones who are now gone.  We took a break last year to deal with illness and losses in the family, but this year we got back on track.

Now mind you, this is not the big reunion that we tend to be a part of every 5-10 years, where all the families in attendance have to wear colored t-shirts so we know who belongs to who.

This one is just our extended family in and around Central and South Texas. It’s definitely one I try not to miss.  So this year my niece, nephew, furbaby and I packed ourselves up into the 2018 Chevy Equinox which I was sent to review, and off we went.

The kids and my furbaby loved the spaciousness and tech features of our ride.  The kids especially enjoyed being able to connect up to 7 devices to the 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and pairing them with the BOSE surround sound.

I loved the safety features, like the lane assist to keep me from unintentionally drifting into the other lane during our almost 4 hour drive.  But what we couldn’t get enough of, even when we showed it off to others, was the panoramic sunroof, the cooling seats in the hot Texas heat, the fabulous 360 surround vision camera, and the rear seat reminder to alert drivers to check the backseat for children, pets, etc., before they exit the car. It had the perfect mix to make this Tia, and furbaby momma, feel safe, cool, and a little spoiled.  Check out our reactions to this fab ride here.

Once we were done showing off our ride, it was time to get to the business at hand, the reunion. I picked up my other niece and headed to our first stop, a mass to honor the memory of our loved ones.

Then it was time to break bread with each other, catch up, laugh, and just hang out.  In the past, the gathering after mass had generally taken place at my Mom’s house. This year however my cousin, who lost her mom last year, decided to hold it at her amazing home.

It was the perfect setting.  She has a resort style backyard, so the kids had enough room to play in, while the grown ups had space to eat and mingle.  It was perfect.

Yes there’s a lot of cooking, cleaning, general preparation, with a sprinkling of family drama, but it’s all worth it to make memories with these smiling faces.

Then the following day we got to celebrate Father’s Day with my Dad.  It was great. We all got to each brunch together, and the kids got some time with Grandpa.  All in all it was a fabulous weekend!

Do you have family reunions?  What fun things do you do at your reunions?

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, but I was provided this 2018 Chevy Equinox for review.  Don’t worry though, all opinions about their fabulousness are my own!
