Santikos Legacy – Beyond Movies

Thanks Santikos Entertainment for sponsoring this post. Don’t worry though, all opinions about Santikos Legacy and their fabulousness are my own!

I love when I’m able to share great social good finds on ordinary, everyday things, like going to the movies.  Thanks to a fun information session at Santikos Entertainment’s newest theatre, Casa Blanca, I found out that through Santikos Legacy, not only do they offer premier entertainment, but they’re the only theater group to operate as a social enterprise for the sole benefit of the communities in which they operate in.  How cool is that!

Santikos Legacy - yoursassyself.comAnd that’s all thanks to John L. Santikos, who decided that this is how he wanted his company to operate after his death.  Even the vendors they partner with, from the salad dressings, to the candy, cleaning crew, etc. they want to make sure they work with those who also have giving back as part of  their mission.  In the near further they hope that all funds used to cover their bills will eventually be funneled to the good causes identified by each vendor, much like their remaining funds are funneled back into our community via the San Antonio Area Foundation. They’re the ones that make donations, offer sponsorships, grants and programming that benefits the same people that visit the various Santikos Entertainment venues – enhancing Santikos Legacy.

“We want the public to understand that we all have a stake in creating a vibrant and prosperous community.  You can see a movie anywhere, but every time you see a movie at Santikos you become a vital part of our charitable legacy because the money you spend on tickets, drinks or snacks goes back to organizations that improve our society,” says David M. Holmes, Santikos Enterprises president and CEO.

This year those efforts totaled around $12 million dollars, and they predict that number will rise to $20 million next year.

Then there’s the Free Summer Movies, which this year in San Antonio will benefit ChildSafe, while in Houston they’ll benefit, Child Advocates of Fort Bend. All I can say is that I love everything about this!

Santikos 2016 Free Summer Movies - yoursassyself.comThe added bonus is that they’re not only stepping it up on the social good side, but they are also bringing their A game when it comes to the full entertainment experience.  Their latest addition, Casa Blanca, is the first 100% laser projection multiplex movie theatre in the world. It also has the largest screen in Texas, amazing sound, along with in-theatre dining in four of their auditorium theaters, with reclining seats. Yes, luscious reclining seats.  And whether you’re dropping off the kids to watch a movie or need to kill some time before your movie begins, they have a 16-lane bowling alley, cafe, bar, fudge, gelato, and brick oven pizzas, oh my.

So the next time you want to watch a movie or enjoy any of the amenities mentioned, consider choosing the Santikos theatre near you.  Not only are you destined to have a great movie going experience, but you’ll also be positively impacting our community and expanding Santikos Legacy.  A win, win all the way around.
