For Hispanics across the world, December is jammed packed with celebrations, including Las Posadas (a nine day celebration and reenactment of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem). Since I’m a firm believer in enjoying life to the fullest, I think that includes hitting up as many holiday fiestas (parties) as stress free as possible. It’s because of this that I want to share some easy, flavorful holiday recipes to get you through. Enter these two super simple avocado salsas created with the help of HERDEZ®.
For me, the holidays are filled with so many fond memories of a house filled with family, friends, music, laughter and more food than we can possibly eat. It’s greatness, and attending a posada is no different. There’s an overflow of tamales, Mexican hot chocolate and pastries, while the kids get to enjoy the dulces (candy), oranges and nuts from the piñata.
Since tamales are considered a Mexican staple through out the holiday season, I’ve decided to share two super simple avocado salsas, with similar ingredients, which pair fabulously with our beloved tamales.
The first is this chunky avocado salsa made with 1 1/2 cups of HERDEZ® Salsa Casera, a cubed avocado, chopped cilantro (to give it that extra homemade feel) and salt to taste. And voila – you have a semi-homemade salsa.
The second is a creamy avocado salsa verde made with 1/4 cup of the HERDEZ® Salsa Verde, 1/2 cup of water, a diced avocado, fresh cilantro, salt to taste, which is then blended to the creamy consistency you like.
And within minutes, thanks to HERDEZ®, a brand who cares about authenticity in both food and culture, you’ll have two savory salsas to add to your celebrations this holiday season. And what better way to bring family and friends together than with the food and traditions that make us who we are.
To continue the celebration and good cheer, the HERDEZ® brand is holding the Share in the Magic of #MisPosadas contest on Instagram December 7th – January 6th. Each week, HERDEZ® will post a fill in the blank question for fans to answer. All you have to do is answer with a pic and the hashtag #MisPosadas. Three top winners and those with honorable mentions will each receive a prize. How cool is that? So check out the deets here and enter away!
