The One I Wrote For You – Review & Giveaway

If you follow me on social media (FacebookInstagramTwitter), you know that recently I had the pleasure of joining some of my fellow bloggers at a screening of The One I Wrote For You, which opens December 5-7, 2012 at these theaters.

The One I Wrote Star Avi Lake-yoursassyself.com
Yes, that’s the super cute and talented Avi Lake – also pictured in poster. 😀

If you hadn’t heard, this movie is about Ben Cantor, played by the dreamy Cheyenne Jackson, who gave up a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a singer/songwriter, and settled for being a coffee shop barista and family man. Life however, presented him a second chance via a singer/song writer contest similar to that of the Voice or American Idol.  It is during his stint on the show that he has to figure out how far he’s willing to go to turn his dream into reality.  Thus commences the battle between staying true to yourself or bending to the yearnings of others.  It’s a great family centered, feel good movie – perfect for the holiday season.

It’s made better with a wonderfully selected cast.  His best friend and manager, is played by the super talented and funny Kevin Pollak, his wife is played by Christine Woods, his father is a flash from the past – Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future anyone?), and his daughter is played by Austin’s own Avi Lake.

Avi actually graced us with her presence at the screening and even stuck around to answer questions, sign autographs and take pics with us.

The added bonus was that the movie was actually shot here in San Antonio, TX and our very own Susan Hamilton provided the costumes, which added to the local feel.  It was great to see our beautiful city highlighted so well via the backdrops and clothing.  One of the many shot locations was Flip Side Records, which is owned and operated by my cousin-in-law’s family.  So it was great to see their little Mom & Pop shop shown front and center through out the film.
