Here’s a run down of the ingredients I tend to add in, but feel free to mix and match any other veggies and/or spices that move you.
Ingredients
- 2 6oz cans tuna
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped cilantro
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped onions
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped bell pepper
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped tomatoes
- 2 raw eggs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 Tbsp oil (olive oil, coconut oil, ghee, or your fav)
Directions
Drain the tuna and place in a medium mixing bowl
Now add in the finely chopped cilantro, onions, bell pepper, tomatoes, eggs, salt and pepper to taste and mix together.
Place your large non-stick skillet over medium heat, pour in your oil of choice ( I used coconut oil), allow it to warm and pour in 2 Tbsps of mixture, per cake (Space evenly in skillet. You can usually get 4 cakes in your skillet).
Cook until nicely browned on each side – depending on cake size it may take anywhere from 3-4 mins (don’t flip before browned or your cake may fall apart ).
Enjoy!
We usually served ours with boiled eggs, topped with hot sauce. But you can serve yours with lemon wedges, a tarter dipping sauce and/or even on buns as sliders. The options are endless.

That looks gooood!!!! We like to make a vegetarian dish pretty often, a chickpea spinach curry. It’s super easy to make, very filling and delicious. Plus it’s a lot healthier with fewer calories. Recipe is online.
Try to save/freeze some of those tuna patties for me. 😉
Yum & thanks Liz. I’d be happy to whip up a batch for you anytime 😉 Have a great week!
These look yummy and I think I’m making them tonight. I have never tried anything like this but everyone loves tuna at my house so I think they will be a hit.
Yay, yes try them & feel free to make them your own 😉 Hope your family loves them as much as we do
Minus the eggs, that’s how I usually eat tuna. I can’t wait to add the eggs and try these cakes!
Yay! Hope you enjoy!! They’re super easy to make. Thanks for stopping in Melanie. Have a great week!
Oh I love tuna cakes, yours look so yummy! You know what else I freak over Salmon patties, you can do them the same way. Some people use canned but I like to do a big Salmon filet and then make the left overs into patties the next day for lunch.
What a great left over meal Caden! Thanks for sharing and for dropping by. Have a great week!
